Communicate in a way that you actually feel confident about.

Understanding your audience is crucial. Knowing how to confidently talk to the media to inform the public or how to write fundraising letters and website copy to attract and persuade donors can help you accomplish your mission.

Clear, competent and confident communication is a skill and having practical and professional training customized to your goals frees you up to authentically tell your story in any setting.

COMMUNICATION CONSULTING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES & NONPROFITS

Big consulting companies sell big, cookie-cutter packages that may not fit your needs or your budget.

At Werking Communication we’re committed to assessing your specific needs and custom tailor a package for you.

When working with me, the first thing we’ll do is meet to get a clear idea about what you already do, how much staff and budget you have (or don’t have) to do it and what your immediate and long-term communication needs are. We will work together to develop a plan that works for you and your organization to tell your unique story.

about me

Jo Ellen Werking Weedman

I have always loved a good story. As a young girl, I read the daily newspaper to see who had been admitted to the local hospital and then eavesdropped on my mom’s prayer chain calls to get more details.

My first decade as a professional was spent in daily newsrooms in small communities. It was there that I learned that stories are what change people. As I wrote about terminal diagnoses, t-ball championships and school board decisions, I had a front row seat to the way that stories impact real people. I took those reporting skills to a local nonprofit and there learned that telling the story of our mission meant that children in my city got access to arts education and adults who would mentor and love them into the people they were created to be.

After 20 years of combined experience in both journalism and public relations, I have a holistic view of the media industry and how to work within it. I know how much stories matter and how to strategize so you can tell yours well.
